UK cinemas hosting premieres

UK film premieres are generally held in Leicester Square, London. The square is in the heart of the West End, surrounded by theatres and museums. The square has four cinemas surrounding it, with a small park in the middle. Each one of these cinemas has hosted a premiere; the Odeon cinema being the largest and most famous of them. In June 2007, The O2, formerly the Millennium Dome, announced it would also host premieres.

There are other cinemas in London which host smaller premieres, usually previews or film festival premieres.

Elsewhere around the country, Edinburgh hosts a world famous film festival in August every year alongside the Fringe. Many films get a premiere here, even before they have an 'official' premiere in London.
